Guide for Committee Chairs:
Before Committee Meetings:
- Review the committee action items/agenda prior to the committee meeting.
During Committee Meetings:
- Distribute copies of the committee action items/agenda and previous committee reports to your committee.
- Record member names in attendance of the meeting.
- Acquire the Committee Report Form and record minutes to prepare the written report.
- Start meeting on-time and encourage participation by all in attendance.
- Submit the completed committee report to the Vice President and prepare to report to the group at the next session
MAAE Committee Action Items:
MAAE Conference Planning Committee:
- Regional Representative will volunteer to lead the committee in cooperation with Past President
- Coordinate MAAE Summer PDI
- Serve on conf. planning committee, contact hotel and arrange rooms/meals, print conf. materials, contact speakers & arrange presentations, arrange tours & entertainment, consult with MSU for MAAE portion of Fall PDI
MAAE Policy Committee:
- The conduct of the committee is to ACT, EDUCATE, and REPORT on information shaping policies to advance agricultural education under the consultation of the policy director.
- Provide advocacy updates to MAAE members
- Serve as advocates for agricultural education.
- Plan and coordinate the FFA Legislative Day at the Capitol.
- Promote the NAAE Legislative Action Center for member use.
- Reports should be given at scheduled board meetings.
- Appointment is by the executive board with work coordinated by the MAAE President
MAAE Finance Committee:
- Plan a yearly budget to manage financial resources.
- Review membership categories.
- Reports should be given at scheduled board meetings.
- Regional Representative will volunteer to lead the committee in cooperation with Treasurer
MAAE Marketing Committee:
- Promote student membership and benefits.
- Provide an MAAE Intern Scholarship.
- Identify potential agricultural educators.
- Promote the use of TeachAg materials and TeachAg Day.
- Encourage NAAE student members to attend regional and national NAAE events.
- Promote state level agriculture teacher mentoring programs.
- Design and maintain a MAAE website.
- Ensure that MAAE members understand the value of membership and participation in MAAE activities.
- Reports should be given at scheduled board meetings.
- Regional Representative will volunteer to lead the committee in cooperation with Secretary
MAAE Member Services Committee:
- Design and maintain a MAAE website.
- Provide professional development for agricultural educators through face-to-face professional development workshops.
- Promote leadership opportunities.
- Provide opportunities for MAAE members to meet for fellowship and sharing (hospitality room).
- Reports should be given at scheduled board meetings.
- Regional Representative will volunteer to lead the committee in cooperation with Vice President
MAAE Professional Growth Committee:
- Promote National Program Quality Standards to agricultural educators.
- Provide incentives that encourage outstanding performance through award programs.
- Provide professional development for agricultural educators through face-to-face professional development workshops.
- Provide continuing education certificates to agricultural educators who participate in professional development delivered by MAAE.
- Reports should be given at scheduled board meetings.
- Regional Representative will volunteer to lead the committee in cooperation with President-Elect
